Each year, GLI invites its investors to the Kentucky State Capitol to advocate for top policy priorities and have open discussions with legislators about the needs of the business community and the Greater Louisville region as a whole.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the day, attendees met with elected and appointed officials and had robust conversations around top priorities outlined in GLI\u2019s 2023 legislative agenda \u2013 tax reform, barriers to workforce participation, sports wagering, criminal justice reform, talent attraction and retention, and more.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile our advocacy team is in Frankfort every day, it is always impactful to have business leaders at the Capitol to share their own stories and perspectives,\u201d said Sarah Davasher-Wisdom, president and CEO of Greater Louisville Inc. \u201cAdvocacy Day gets the business community involved in the legislative process and helps us move the needle on our top priorities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Participants met with legislative leaders from the Kentucky House and Senate on a range of different policies, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Senate President Pro Tempore David Givens, Senate Majority Floor Leader Damon Thayer,\u00a0and Senate Majority Caucus Chair Julie Raque Adams discussed the Senate\u2019s top priorities for the remainder of the session.<\/li>\n<li>House Majority Floor Leader Steven Rudy and House Majority Whip Jason Nemes discussed the top priorities of the House of Representatives.<\/li>\n<li>Representative Kevin Bratcher, Representative Keturah Herron, and Representative Russell Webber led a conversation on workforce barriers and criminal justice reform.<\/li>\n<li>Representative Michael Meredith led a conversation on sports wagering, gray machines, and tax policies to make Kentucky more competitive.<\/li>\n<li>Lieutenant Governor Jacqueline Coleman discussed current executive branch priorities and how the Governor\u2019s office can support Greater Louisville businesses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cThrough the support of our business community and elected leadership, we have seen movement on key GLI priorities during the first part of this year\u2019s legislative session,\u201d said Shelby Somervell, vice president of government affairs and communications at GLI. \u201cI look forward to continued work with the General Assembly to move pro-business policies across the finish line this year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To learn more about the 2023 state legislative agenda, click\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.greaterlouisville.com\/advocacy\/agendas-and-publications\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Louisville, Ky.\u00a0(March 1, 2023) \u2013 Over 40 local business leaders joined Greater Louisville Inc. yesterday for its annual Advocacy Day in Frankfort presented by Charter Communications.
