Louisville, Ky.<\/strong> (September 9, 2021) \u2013 Today, Greater Louisville Inc. hosted the Pensacola Chamber of Commerce as they visit Louisville to glean best practices related to community engagement. GLI collaborated with the Pensacola Chamber to connect them with local leaders and develop a two-day immersive, learning experience in Louisville.<\/p>\n

GLI\u2019s Chief Operating Officer, Rebecca Wood, kicked-off the visit with a presentation to set context for what participants will experience in Louisville. She shared background information on the regional economy, and how GLI works to engage its members and community through work in economic development, talent attraction, workforce development, and inclusion.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are thrilled to host the Pensacola Chamber and their local business leaders and show them all Louisville has to offer,\u201d said Wood. \u201cGLI is continuing to execute forward-thinking and innovative initiatives that will position our region for continued growth, and it\u2019s apparent that other communities are taking notice and wanting to learn from our region\u2019s growth and innovation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Leaders from the Pensacola Business Community and the Pensacola Chamber of Commerce, which represents more than 1,100 businesses in the panhandle of Florida, joined the trip and will hear from representatives from Louisville Forward, KentuckianaWorks, OneWest, NOIR Chamber of Commerce, Evolve502, and more as they tour the city. Mayor Greg Fischer will also join the group for a reception and discuss current Louisville Metro Government priorities.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you to the Pensacola Chamber of Commerce and business community for visiting our great city and for your interest in learning about the strong partnerships that define our city,\u201d said Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer. \u201cThe economic momentum Louisville was experiencing before the pandemic is returning, and we are happy to share our best practices with other cities.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen looking for a city to visit, we wanted a city which had common themes in workforce and economic development but was ahead of us in innovation and best practices. After working with GLI to further develop our advocacy efforts in 2020 we wanted to continue to cultivate our relationship and asked them to host our leadership visit. Additionally, being on the Alabama\/Florida line we conduct bi-state business, and we wanted to explore that commonality,\u201d said Sara Lefevers, director of external affairs for the Pensacola Chamber of Commerce.<\/p>\n

As the 2019 Chamber of the Year, GLI has hosted several Chambers of Commerce on learning expeditions over the years. GLI also offers similar opportunities for Greater Louisville business leaders to visit other communities through the annual GLIDE program<\/a>.<\/p>\n
