As the bill filing deadlines approach this week, we saw a flurry of bills filed in the past week. \u00a0\u00a0As GLI\u00a0 continues to monitor business community interests, stay up to date on all things state legislature on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greaterlouisville.com\/category\/advocacy-and-legislation\/\">Policy Distilled<\/a> and X <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/GLIAdvocacy\" class=\"external\" target=\"_blank\">@GLIAdvocacy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Anti Inclusion Legislation Filed<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Last week, there were a number of anti-inclusion bills appeared filed including HB 4 addressing inclusive policies in post-secondary institutions. A similar bill was filed last session and did not pass the Senate. In addition to HB 4, other bills addressing inclusion in K-12 schools (SB 165) and business practices (HB 388) were filed in the last week. Economic inclusion and talent attraction are two core pieces of GLI\u2019s mission and we continue to oppose legislation that would create an unwelcoming environment in our region.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bills Impacting Louisville<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>School Districts: A number of bills were filed in the last week addressing school boards and their governance. HB 162 provides guidelines on how cities within Louisville could form their own school districts. SB 131 would address school board governance including increasing the number of board members from seven to 15 and lowering the vote threshold to remove the superintendent.<\/li>\n<li>Consolidated Local Governments: HB 538, filed by Louisville Representative C. Lewis, establishes a number of changes to consolidated Local Governments including decreasing the size requirements for new cities from 6000 to 3000 persons and implements a review process for any notices from local health or solid waste boards by the local city council.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Child Care Assistance Partnership Program<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>HB 50 was filed last week by Representative Decker requiring the Cabinet for Health and Family Services to provide notice to employers applying for the Child care Assistance Partnership Program (CCAP) if changes to the application process would impact their reapplication to the program. The bill also requires the Cabinet to post a standardized agreement on their website and establishes a variety of submittal options for employers. GLI was supportive of the establishment of this program and is pleased to see the legislature continue to work with the Cabinet to make it successful.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hannah-ky.com\/Report_Custom.aspx?sid=zTUjBwCamvc%3d&amp;rid=gRtbd5TDQ3Y%3d&amp;oldFormat=False&amp;srt=0&amp;st=False&amp;ss=True&amp;ctl=False\" class=\"external\" target=\"_blank\">BILL TRACKER\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>UPDATE ON FEDERAL EXECUTIVE ORDERS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>GLI continues to monitor changes at the federal level, including recent executive orders.
